I've had my Soltek SL-75FRN2-L for a few months now, and it works great, but if I leave the rig unplugged for a few hours every time I boot I get a warning stating "CPU overclock fail", but this only happens when I unplug it. It won't boot after this and I end up having to reload default settings then redoing all the settings. It runs fine left plugged in, but it's a backup rig so it moves around and doesn't need to be left on all the time. Nothing in the bios changes at all. Bios is 1.5.

Any ideas on what is causing this "CPU overclock fail" message? I'm stumped, I thought it might be the CMOS battery, but that usually resets the clock and everything else doesn't it?

I have this board but have not had this cold boot problem but have read about it and here are a few links that might help there is also one with all the bios's that you can use including an overclockers bios, you did not list you system specs so I can't be more specific hope it helps.

It's the AMD rig in the sig:
FSB 200
Multiplier 11
Memory 2/2/2/5
Mem speed: 166Mhz
Vcore: 1.750 V
MemVolt:2.7V

I've been leaving it plugged in so it no longer does it.

edit:for voltages

I would advise you to flash the bios back to 1.3 or 1.4, I have read many posts concerning cold boot problems with the new 1.5 version. If I am not mistaken this was also a problem with the 1.1 and 1.2 bios versions.

Hope this helps. let us know if you fix the problem , and how you went about rightin it, it could help others:)

I'll do it Sunday, I've got some reading and studying to do that day so I can kill some time with it. Do you happen to know if either of those bioses allow for async memory timings? The ram in that rig is total junk and needs to go back to Kingston but I've been too lazy and busy to deal with right now. Thank goodness for Christmas breaks. :D
