Same basic principle in my res

Also had problem with vortex formation and so I put a bit of the foam from Eheim pumps into the res and that solved the problem

pHaestus, doesn't having the intake so close to the pump inlet cause bubbles to get sucked right through instead of reaching the top of th reservoir? This happened to me when I tried the eheim res mod since I placed the intake too low. Ended up scrapping the project and using a t-line :-/

No problem with bubbles after I got rid of the vortex; maybe having the barb at a 90 degree angle helped?

I learned something important from making this res though: You should tap a place in the bottom of your res for a valve. That way when you want to bleed the system you can just connect hose to the valve and drain all the liquid out.
