http://www.overclockers.com/tips209/ has anyone used this and if so reply your results. also it says the 3/4th" tee didn't have the whirlpool affect but the 1" did. also if anyone has used either of the size tee post what your results were.

pHaestus, doesn't having the intake so close to the pump inlet cause bubbles to get sucked right through instead of reaching the top of th reservoir? This happened to me when I tried the eheim res mod since I placed the intake too low. Ended up scrapping the project and using a t-line 
No problem with bubbles after I got rid of the vortex; maybe having the barb at a 90 degree angle helped?
I learned something important from making this res though: You should tap a place in the bottom of your res for a valve. That way when you want to bleed the system you can just connect hose to the valve and drain all the liquid out.
