Abit AI7 boot problems.

Abit AI7 + P4
I just set up a machine for my mate today. Heres the specs:

Abit AI7
Intel P4 2.8E with OEM hs/fan
Seagate 80gb
512m PC3200
Leadtek 5700U

Heres the problem. I just installed XP Pro and it will not boot unless the first boot is the CDROM, and the second is the HD AND the XP Pro cd is in the drive! I made 2 NTFS partitions and installed XP to the C: If I take the cd out of the drive it will say disk boot faillure and will not boot. Even if I put the HD as the only boot device, it sitll will say that. Everything is hooked up correctly and I tried both IDE1 and IDE2, but same problem. I went into the recovery console and wrote a new boot sector and MBR but that did not do anything either. Anyone have any suggestions?

So, why did you not mention whether the hard disk is a SATA drive or an IDE drive?

I guess SATA, because of your problems, right?

I think you should set the SATA channels to "IDE combined mode" in BIOS under "integrated Per..." to get the boot priority work.
