Somebody told me to move this topic from general hardware... but anyways...
Hey oc'ers,
A friend of mine recommended ocforums for overclocking beginners. I've been around computers my whole life and never actually got into overclocking.
So yeah, anyways... Just got a new system and I need somebody to help me overclock this beast :
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939 Winchester Integrated into Chip FSB
DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D
OCZ EL Platinum Rev2 2x512MB DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel
Leadtek PX6600GT TDH Extreme 128MB GDDR3 PCI-Express x16
FSP Group AX500-A ATX12V 500W PSU
Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA150
Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower
Thermaltake Thunderblade A1926 120mm Sleeve Blue LED Light Fans (replaced 2 stock fans)
THERMALTAKE CL-P0024 Heatsink (just ordered)
THERMALTAKE A2017 90mm 1 Ball 1 Sleeve Blue LED Light Fan (just ordered 2 of them for the heatsink)
I read up on overclocking a little bit, but I'm going nowhere. I still have no idea what HTT or LDT multiplier is for. I know however that FSB times HTT has to equal or be less than 1000MHz. I had to manualy set the timings on the ram to 2-2-2-5, because it automatically detected it as 2-2-3-5 for some reason.
I was wondering if I am doing something wrong because whenever I tried raising the FSB to 205MHz, it was running stable - Memtest86 ran 1500% in coverages, no errors. 8 hours of Prime95 - stable. When I tried raising to 210MHz, my computer hangs at the logon screen than reboots itself. It let me go into windows with 208MHz FSB, but memtest86 gave me a bejesus (a lot) ammount of errors in the first 5%.
I also tried messing around with ratios and the HTT multiplier thing. Got it up to 8.5x265MHz FSB with 3x HTT multiplier and a 3:4 ratio on the RAM frequency. That also required to raise the voltages on LDT, DRAM, and Chipset (i don't know if that was the right thing to do, but that was the only way i could load into windows). Yet again, not stable, memtest gave an enormous amount of errors, and ZoneAlarm's TrueVector kept on crapping out.
Somebody please help!!! I need like a tutorial or something, cuz I'm lost...
Thanks in advace,
UKF.
