i made a newb mistake and didnt back up registry before changing the value to 00000026 -.-

WINDOWS XP HOME

Mine on XP-Pro SP2

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl]
"Win32PrioritySeparation"=dword:00000026
"IRQ8Priority"=dword:00000001

The default Win32PrioritySeparation DWORD Value data under the PriorityControl key is 38 ( equates to 2 - the old NT 4.0 setting ), which corresponds to ticking "Adjust for best performance of: Programs", under Performance Options--> "Advanced" tab--> Processor Scheduling. Ticking the "Background services" option changes the DWORD Value to 24.
