X38 or P35 for E8400 at 4.0

I'd like to get an E8400 and overclock to 4.0 Ghz. I generally keep my computer's for two years tops before upgrading, so I'm not too concerned about the long haul. (My current AMD 4200+ I've had for about 22 months)

What would be a better choice? P35 based board or an X38?

imo P35, a gigabyte P35-DS3L/P35-DS3/P35-DS3R,Abit IP35-E/IP35-Pro..

X38 if your going to run crossfire

P35 if your just playing with single gfx card

p35, ip35-e or ip35-pro are my favorate boards with p35 chipset.

Well...X38 or Abit IP35 Pro...am going for that one too...its in the pipeline.

This sums up the decision making process when choosing between P35 and X38.

X38 has 2 16x PCIe slots

P35 has 1 16x PCIe slot and 1 4x PCIe slot

Abit if i were you.

I don't recommend ASUS. Bad BIOS update, poor service etc. With an old BIOS, had problems getting above 900 for RAM and 450mhz for CPU.

CPU: Tried like 1.7volts in BIOS (Max. About 1.6 in CPU-Z) with 6mulit for my E6750. Cold boot above 450mhz. Settled for 436X8...

X38 or P35 for E8400 at 4.0
