I am getting the BSOD caused by a SATA DVD drive, and was just wondering if anyone here had heard about any fixes for this. In my short searches all I have found was that the drive was the cause so I unplugged it and the PC is running fine now. I just need to figure out how to get it usable again. It will BSOD usually during XP load, or shortly after getting to the desktop.

Thanks for any info you may have about this.

Guess more details might help:

EVGA 780i
QX9650 @ 3.6 for now 4GB Dominator @ 1066 5-5-5-15
EVGA 9800GX2 stock clock for now
150GB WD "V-Rap" for OS and games
Samsung DVD
on XP 32bit

I think that is all that is plugged into it right now excluding the DVD as I had to unplug it to stop the BSOD.

Put Optical drive on an opposite channel to the HDD,s like down on sata port 4/5 or similar, this is a known issue for 680i M/B's up

Will do! I had not tried to just move it yet so fingers crossed. I'll let you know if it fixes it when I get off work.

Thanks

Thanks, been 100% stable for a few days now so that must have been it.

BTW, 4GHz on air is nice :)
