Hey everyone,
So just as spring break started here for US colleges, my RAM decides to start giving me problems.
Quick-n-dirty relevant PC info (previous):
ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe
3GB (3 sticks) of Ballistix DDR2 800 PC6400 (4-4-4-12)
---
So a few days ago, my PC won't even POST. I trace it to one RAM module that the PC refused to boot with (that Ballistix series is THE WORST - 3/5 modules I've owned have died).
I get on Newegg, and get a Mushkin 1GB stick (DDR2 800 PC6400) with 5-5-5-12 timings.
PC boots just fine, but programs crash constantly. Games, even Firefox and Windows Live messenger. I figure it's another dead RAM module - but - memtest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic have both been error free.
**As I was typing this, memtest86 just turned up 3 errors on test run #2 (test 5).
I guess the question now is, how do I proceed?
(RAM settings in mt86: 4-4-4-18) -- shouldn't the last number be 12 since both RAM module types are rated for it? (Motherboard settings are on auto).
Any input would be appreciated...
