I am plaining on getting non-ECC memory because it is cheaper but the specs of my board say that it supports ECC memory does that mean it can also support non-ECC?

Some ex.server boards will only support ecc. what kind of board is it?

What type of motherboard do you have?

and most likely it will take both>

im pretty sure its safe to say it will handle both, unless you have some weird brand mobo, you want non ECC though

Go with non-ecc you will be fine with that
The only time you might want ecc is when your running a web server or a computer running important stuff
