I'm running a socket a athlon 900 and I was made aware that I have to unlock the chip by crossing the L1 bridges.

My question is, all the guides that mention it are referring to Duron chips while their topic say that they are Athlon/Duron. Is this in fact true that for both chips, the same location and same bridges need to be crossed? Also, I heard a modification has to be made to the A7V board itself..is this true? My board apparently already has a DIP or DP (something like that) switch on it, which many guides mention.

Thanks.

Comp setup:
Asus A7V, Asusv6800 Deluxe GeForce, Fans fans and summore fans.

Brian.

they can both be unlocked via the same method, everything is the same except for the core and cache

I have the standard old A7V ver 1.2. There should be two sets of dip switches right next to each other. Most have them.
