here's the deal: i am looking for a 6800 GT
i have a gainward ti4600 and i love it.

i can get the BFG now (Nov 12 thru 15) for $399.00 -12% (bestbuy coupon) minus $10.00 (reward zone) for a total of ~$371.92 (399-48-10=341; sales tax here is like 7.75% so add $30.92).

OR

wait and hope to get the 6800 GT Golden Sample from newegg for $434.95 ($429.00 + $4.95 s/h) EVENTUALLY.

what do you think? I love my gainward gf4 and have never owned another brand of vidcard... are the BFG's alright? I plan to overclock it when i do get it, whichever one it is, but i probably won't get extreme with it... might put it on water but not sure... depends on whether i can get the block form the ti4600 on the new card, because i don't feel like dropping $130.00 on a new waterblock. i plan to actively cool the memory. The $63.00 difference in price is tempting... should i go for it or wait some more?

well it really isn't a 60$ difference, more like 30$ after taxes, i have a BFG, and am not too happy with the OC, i'd wait out for gainward, plus the BFG cooling sucks

the difference is $60-> 399-12%=351; 351-10=341; 341+30.92=371.92
399x.0775=30.9225.... if the difference is $60.00 would it be worth it? i could probably get a VGA waterblock from swiftech for cheap... i dunno... but it would be nice to get the card for less than 400 bucks.

EDIT: forgot to ask what your oc is bobmanfoo?

oh sorry about the price different mistake, i was too lazy to look at all the numbers lol, anyway my OC with the card stock is 415/1.02. i have the worse OCing ram that i've seen. 60$ is a big difference though, but if you plan on OCing im sure you'd want to upgrade the cooling the BFG which would cost about 30$. i was lucky to have one of the first BFG GTs that came with the reference cooling. im almost definite that you would get a higher OC with the gainward, as the GS is guarantied to run at 400/1.1 or you get another one that will, and the Gainward has one of the best coolers on the market

EDIT: oh didn't see that you are getting a waterblock, well if that is the case then you might as well get the BFG, i think the gainward's better OC is due in part to the better hsf

i think i'll wait it out... i know a lot of people are happy with their BFG's... i just don't want to HAVE to get a waterblock to oc... thnx guys
