well so i have a p3 866 on aa d815epfv intel board... now i know nothing about overclocking... so how in the world would be the best way to go about overclocking it, eh?

Intel boards are very overclocking unfriendly.
You might try software overclocking like soft fsb.
You can find it at www.tweakfiles.com

look into selling that mobo (maybe even on ebay) and looking at asus, msi, or even abit. you'll be able to o/c in the bios with them.
