Im getting a Packard Bell Easynote K5285 from a mate soon but it has no working cd-drive which is a small problem lol.

My sis has a Dell inspiron 4000.

I was wondering if i could nick the cd drive out of the inspiron? would it fit??

thanks in advance.

In short - it should do,
most lappy cd/dvd drives are pretty standard these days, if you remove the drive from the packard and the dell they should have the same connector, but if they are different it may just be and 'extra' connector screwed to the back of the drive (some lappy manufacturers do this because the drive bay is multifunctional hd/cd/batt etc and you wouldn''t want a battery with a standard cd drive connector on it

some times the face plate must be removed. Some thinkpads had slanted faces on drives that look stupid in anything but thinkpads...
