Chad: you were a forums member back in the days that posting was done by sending a letter to Skip, via drums, fire towers and smoke signals.
Do you remember when it started? I believe I became a SENIOR in 1997 or 1998
Should I do close ups of my S3 and PII slot1?
I've really been trying to find my old SlotA "goldfingered" Thunderbird. That is sexay!!
I do not have the old Slocket adapter. I passed on that. I might still have an oldPIIICelery 466 someplace though.
Thunderbirds were Socket A. Slot A were Argon, Orion or Pluto (according to Wikipedia)
[/nitpick]
There was the Slot A (Cart) Thunderbird Athlon, that was typical 700 or 750Mhz. I have the 900Mhz variant. (I also had the 750 Duron cart CPU.)
They moved over to Socket A right before the 1Ghz chip came out. Which was kind of hard to find at the time. After that, they moved on to other things on the 462 (Socket A).
I had huge issues with the nVidia running at 1x on the AGP. Due to the stupid Irongate / Viper chipset.
I might be off, but I think my memory is correct here.

You are correct Wolf, there where a few Slot Thunderbirds
I joined OCF back in my PII 266Mhz days, before the multipliers got locked. I became a Senior after the multipliers was locked and we all was drawing small lines on your CPU's with the "Pencil trick"... Cant remember any of the years of when this happened, but I wasnt very old. In a while i think I was the youngest Senior member, untill OpfenFriday was appointed Senior.
My nick was "Walter" back then
hardware pron alert for you old timers
I miss the hard mods for overclocking.
I still have a P3 700? that ran the server that powered the forums for a few years....I know I still have it somewhere
