Has any one ever used or seen them used? I wanted to Hook up my Corsair HX1000 and my Coolmax 850 together and have the HX1000 Run CPU and GPUs Mainly and have the Coolmax run everything else (e.g Lights, Fans, DVD, HDDs etc.)

ALSO does any one know where to get 8pin female connections for GPUs? I wanted to see if i could mod a 6950 with a 8pin instead of a 6pin connection since the 8pin holes are there to use...

Dedicating 850 watts to drives and fans is quite a lot of overkill. Also, your system as specified in your signature doesn't even pull 600W, let alone 850W or 1000W.

Agreed was just asking for a cheaper solution when i get a new CPU Mobo and 1 or 2 more cards in the next month or so, that way i dont have to drop 300 more on a 1200W psu i can just use the 2

i'm pretty certain that what that device really does is just link the 'on' signal of the power supplies so that they turn on and shut down when the system is turned on/off. looks like it has one power supply that actually supplies power to the atx connector on the motherboard and the rest are just for auxiliary devices. i don't see a reason why this wouldn't work but i certainly haven't tried one.

it seems to me you might want to look into a redundant PSU set up, since both of those can easily run your sig rig with ease i suggest setting them up so if the 1000 fails the 850 will kick in immediately allowing you to continue using your rig with no interruption

You can use as many individual PSUs as you want provided X psu has enough amps on X rail for X application.

As far as modding to an 8 pin plug, if you could, there's no point. Cards with 6 pin are 6 pin because they only need to pull X amount of watts in vs Y amount with 8 pin. You'd be putting a double exhaust on a four cylinder 100HP engine.

There is a fairly big gap in build quality between the Corsair and Coolmax... I'd just run the Corsair. It is not currently being stressed at all. Might even handle the upgrades by itself.

seen as your only using two psus, i would recommend something like this:

this cable will boot the second psu but will let it keep its power for itself, which i think is what you are looking for.
I've got to mention, this looks like a professionally-made version of what I used to recommend for dual PSU setups in the sticky above. While I'm glad to see it, unless you have extra readily-available PSUs, in this day and age, you're better off getting a good-quality PSU adequate for your needs
