i hae a cheat phone cord pluged directly into the outside boxe with about 3 feet of cord(at home) at work it just runs like regular phone line through the walls

please help

The cheap Phone cord is probally the cause. You are most likely getting more line noise from it :D

Sounds like it is the phone line in your house. How old are they?? I am willing to bet that that is the source of your problem. Have you taken your PC to a different location and tried to connect?
