Hello everyone, my name is Mark and i've done some overclocking in the past with success i'd say ( nothing got on fire hehe).

I would like to thank this wonderful site since i've read a lot of threads about overclocking and how to make it safe and now it's time for me to start a new thread my own.

I am a bit out of date as my primary PC is too old and it's as shown below:

CPU: Q6600, i believe most people are familiar with this cpu! :)
MOBO: Asus P5P43TD
GPU: EVGA 650ti Boost Superclocked 2gb
RAM: 4gigs 1333Mhz Kingston Hyperx
PSU: Thermaltake Hamburg 530w 80+ Certified.

My previous MOBO was an Asrock G41M-GS3 and i had my q6600 clocked at 3ghz 24/7 but now a friend gave me his Asus MOBO and i would like to push it a bit more.

Has anyone tried overclocking the cpu at about 3.5/3.6 stable with such a MOBO, i do NOT ask for the exact voltages or settings, I am asking for some help and advice since i respect your knowledge about extreme overclocks!

Any response would be helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Is the chip a B3 or G0 stepping, and what's the VID (Voltage ID)? What Vcc was required to run it at 3.0GHz, and what are the rated timings and voltage of your KHX modules at DDR3-1333?

The Chip is G0 stepping. I had 1.350vCore in Bios and in CPU-Z it shows 1.312v. VID=1.2750v

Ram voltages were set at 1.53v and 9-9-9-24 at 1333mhz.

Thanks for your reply!

For 3.3GHz, give theses settings a try...

Code:
FSB - 415MHz x 8
FSB Strap to North Bridge - 400
DRAM Frequency - 1333Mhz
VCore - 1.43v
NB - 1.41v
SB - 1.5V
VTT - 1.30v

... w/ the DRAM timings set to 9-9-9-24 at 1.55V.

I will give it a try and i will answer tomorrow since i need to leave for some hours.

I appreciate your time! I hope this would work

Hello and sorry for my late response, so i tried to configure the settings and use those you gave me but they are not similar.

In Vcore i have the options +50,+100,+150mv and that's it.
same happens with NB, the highest option i can select is 1,25
I've set SB on 1,5 which it the highest setting and
VTT is set to 1,30 which is also the highest settting.

My motherboard is P5P43TD!

I was able to log in Windows by setting these settings for 415fsb=3.320Ghz:
Vcore: +100mv
NB:1,25
SB: 1,5
VTT:1,3

My temps are very high on idle using coretemp: 51,48,45,51

My CPU cooler is an Artic Freezer xtreme v2.0

EDIT: In order to get 1333Mhz Ram exactly i need to set FSB strap to North Bridge at 200, or shall i set it to 400 and then get my ram down to 1200MHz?

Don't set the strap at 200. Either leave it at 400 and select the 2.66 DRAM multiplier = DDR3-1103, the 3.33 multiplier = DDR3-1381 at approx. 1.58-1.60V DRAM voltage (assuming the rated voltage is 1.55V), or the 333 strap w/ the multiplier set to 3.20 = DDR3=1328. Keep the timings at 9-9-9-2T (Command Rate) or enable XMP Profile 1. And post the Vcore shown by CPU-Z while running Prime, this at a +100mV setting in the BIOS.

What about the other settings?

Vcore, NB, SB, VTT?

I tried to run prime95 the first time and it reached immidiately 73c heat.

73C is fine... just leave the other settings as-is for the time being. And post the Vcore while running Prime.

Vcore while using prime95 is 1.344 according to CPu-Z!

I will be back in about 2hours (football practice)!

Thanks for your help!

Hi, I'm back.

So i tried prime95 and after 2minutes my pc shut down. Max temps were 71c.

Tried with +150mv. After 15-20secs on Prime95 the pc shut down! :S

Lowered it and still it shuts down on prime95(small ffts). No Blue Screen , it just shuts down!

I tried the following :

fsb=333 x9 =3ghz
Vcore= +150mv
vtt=1.30
nb=1.250
sb=1.500
ram=1.60

why does this?
