So I got a killer deal on a Toshiba HDWC130XK3J1 for $40. Decided to use it as a netowrk drive on my Asus RT-AC66R and it works great all except for one issue, it goes to sleep and it doesn't appear that my router can wake it again. If I try to access the drive through AIcloud or across my network I can't see it unless I power cycle the drive. This appears to be a common problem with this drive as I do research and there are windows work arounds for it, but it's not connected to a PC. Does anyone know of a way to modify the firmware? Is the firmware embedded in the drive itself or in the enclosure? Could I fix the problem if I use a different enclosure? Or should I just return/sell the drive an get a different HDD?
