Looking for RAM with a nice LED

I'm looking for some high-quality RAM that will look great in a white/silver themed case. Can anyone suggest any?

Cannot speak to the quality but I like the way the avexir looks.

Choose your poison. Ram is ram is ram really. You are going to set xmp and forget it so there are few differences between them really.

If you get those avexirs, the heatspreaders are tall on those. I dont recall what cooling you are getting (you have a thread on every component, lol) bjt if its high end air, that can be a problem.

I use the super Luce red...they look cool!

Avexir is solid, to my knowledge.

Any reason you aren't just using an LED strip though?

I actually bought 2x white LED strips, and I already have 2x blue strips. They look great and were literally only $2 on amazon... but having LED Ram gives the rig and extra level of depth - like Jrclock's case. It looks especially nice with a good color-themed setup.

Plus LED ram doesnt really cost any more than non-led ram, so why not?

Okay, I'm leaning towards the Super Luce stuff. It has the following timings:
-DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000)
-Timing 15-17-17-35
-Cas Latency 15

So let me suck up my ego and ask the stupid noob questions... Obviously 3000 refers to the clock speed, and higher is better right? According to the research I've done, 3000 seems to be the threshold at which you hit a point of diminishing returns. You can go faster, but it will cost significantly more and the benefit will be negligible. I believe that is as fast as I need... right?

Timings are like golf - the lower the better right? I've seen some more expensive RAM with lower timings (I believe as low as 13-15-15). But is the listed timing of the Geil Super Luce at 15-17-17 acceptable?

Again, if my understanding is correct: latency is a lower-is-better kind of thing. It's sort of the delay that occurs before the RAM responds to a request for data. I kind of think of RAM as being like a dumb grunt in the army "Derrr, which way do I shoot sarge?" "Shoot thatta-way private!" And then latency is the amount of time it takes the grunt to respond to his officer's orders and start shooting data in the correct direction. So is 15 considered good?

The Super Luce kit would be plenty for you.

In general:
MHz; higher is better
Timings; lower is better

Now, if you're trying to compare two kits do this:
(CAS Latency / Frequency) x 1000 = lower is better.
The formula is a general rule of thumb, but it gets you close enough

Geil Super Luce is known to cause issues. At least higher versions of this memory had problems to run at XMP settings or generally run at declared frequency.
Avexir memory is well tested and I had no issues with them. Other brands like ADATA are using their LED lighting in new series. There are new ADATA Dazzle kits but only at lower frequencies ( up to 2800 on mass market right now and max will be 3000 or 3200 ) -> http://www.adata.com/xpg/en/feature/376
Personally I don't like Raiden kits. They're too big and I mean like about 2x larger than standard modules. At the same time I don't like how they look ( but it won't be for me ). I like Avexir Blitz.

Regarding speed in DDR4 it looks slightly different and higher frequency is almost always better than CL as CL is only one timing and on the list is 30+:

For example there are 3200 CL15-18-18 kits which will never be faster than 3200 16-16-16 while price is about the same.

Some of the latest tests are showing that faster memory is adding couple of FPS in some new games. Maybe it's not so big performance difference but always these 2-4 FPS. Considering memory price then sometimes it can be worth to pay $5 more ( as long as your motherboard supports it ).

Ya, each brand is different of course... but I've noticed with some, the price difference between 3000Mhz and 2400Mhz is only $10. So even if it only translates into an extra FPS or two, it's worth it imo.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Geil Super Luce. It was the front runner because it's the lease expensive, but if it has issues, it's not worth the headaches.

It's slightly less expensive than the top-of-the-line Corsair model.

I got the ram.
It's currently getting blasted with memtest86+. Zero errors so far. Should I just let this go all night?

I normally run 4 passes

Memtest86+ is testing memory but is not testing good memory+memory controller at the same time. Better are Windows applications. Anyway if it passes memtest then should be fine.

+1 you need to multitask when testing memory.
