Left 4 Dead 2: "Steam Validation Rejected"

This is the error I get w/Left 4 Dead 2 if I go offline for an extended period of time. The game cannot be played once I get this error message.
So, am I the only person that gets this error?

did you check the integrity of left 4 dead 2s files?

I never bothered because If I go online w/steam and re-start L4D2 the game works.

But I'll try your suggestion.

I think there is some sort of limit in the length of offline time you can play certain Valve games (other games on steam still work fine for me). I get this error on Dota 2, I think it mainly concerns the ones aimed at multiplayer.
