Hello,

I am looking for a 19" LCD monitor. I am going to use this LCD monitor mostly for Graphic Design work rather than gaming and my budget is around $200-250. It must have a DVI connector because my current CRT monitor is occupying the VGA port. This is LCD monitor is going to be in a Dual Monitor set-up with a CRT Monitor. So far, this is what I found:

1. BenQ FP93G
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014117)
2. Wise Wing W902DB
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824104001)
3. Tyris T901DB
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824224008)
4. Rosewill R912E
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824021019)

All of these LCD monitors are affordable, but I am currently leaning towards the BenQ FP93G because it's contrast ratio is much higher compare to the rest. Which LCD Monitor do you perfer for Graphic Design work? and why? Please let me know and help me narrow down my choices. Thanks.

Just found out that the Rosewill LCD Monitor has only 16 million display colours (not 16.2 Million) so I guess this monitor is out of the question since most of my work will deals with color.

If your serious about graphic design then nothing beats a CRT :). However, I would go with the BenQ if I was to choose from that list.

of those the benq, but I recommend getting a 20"...very small increase in price but much more viewable pixel area (20"ers are 1680x1050 or 1600x1200...first is widescreen, second is normal 4:3...compared to 1280x1024).

For graphic design you want the large viewing area

Thanks for the replies. I've decided that I am going to go with the BenQ FP93G 19" 6ms DVI LCD Monitor because its in my budget and from looking through your replies, most of you recommend BenQ from the rest. Also, I am going to use a CRT Monitor with my LCD Monitor in a dual monitor format for more viewable space.

their is a NEC LCD out for about $800 which i have heard is on top of the 20: market for color and accuracy... cant recall the model

i just ordered a ViewSonic VX2025WM (which uses the same panel as the $800 NEC), while only $344, it has had great reviews about it and it's color accuracy once adjusted properly.

20.1": ViewSonic VX2025WM 1680x1050 (16:10)
Panel: AUO M201EW01 V0 (P-MVA 8-bit)
Response time (g2g/bwb): 8 ms. / 16 ms.
Specs: ViewSonic VX2025WM

decent link

If you are getting an LCD for graphic design work, (no I am not going to espouse the benefits of CRTs yet again) you should definitely look into the Formac Gallery 1900 or the 2010 if you can afford it, letalone find one.
Do not get an LCD that can display less than 16.7 million colors. No 16.6 or 16.2 million color LCDs, you will only cripple yourself. Sure, 16.2 and 16.6 million color displays are fine for gaming, but in no way are they suitable for any graphic work.
You will ultimately be much better off to save up for a good display later than to buy a mediocre display now...

Or Eizo, but the LaCies and Eizos are well out of his price range. I've been running a LaCie 21" Dimondtron for a while and I love it, definitely was worth the high price of admission, and I would definitely recommend LaCie.
I personally can't wait until my Cintiq 21ux arrives in (hopefully) early June.
