Things look pretty grim for that superfly all-Dutch subteam over on 64...
With a hard blow struck and OC3d humbled this last week, the Dutchmen had proved their might in endurance and longevity, while exposing OC3d's weakness in the practice of hiring too much temporary assitance from its Team 32 brethren. While some 32 regulars have continued to show their support of this subteam race and championed OC3d's endeavour to outpace the 5-man juggernaut that is The_Raging_Dutchmen, many have gone back to their personal stats and OC3d was left to wallow in denial. At one point, those Dutchies led by nearly 150 points and some members of OC3d had shut themselves in to avoid public humilitaion!
But it seems a number of factors have turned things around in favor of the OC3dmarkers.
1. Stanford's new batch of proteins have dropped production all across the tight-knit folding@home community, but the might of OC3d's overclocked AMD gaming rigs seems to have faired better than the Dutchies' many networked mid-speed Intel business PC's.
2. In a ninja-style raid, co-founder NasSoccer has added a small Duron lab to OC3d, boosting the subteams' size by more than 10%. A follow-up interview shall hopefully be forthcoming.
The way things have gone in the last 48 hours, with the Dutchmen lead dwindling to barely 25 points... has got this reporter wondering: Just what will the Dutchmen do about it? Will they stand by and yield as OC3d races to the top? More as this late-breaking story unfolds... [pun intended]
[mental note: This Co-founder, not to be left gaping and feeling worthless, will now send an email to a small high school's Science lab, requesting additional Pentium 3's to fold Work Units for OC3d. The handful of P3's formerly folded for Team 32 until the onset of summer and should join with us once again without a hitch.]
