Whats CardBus?

I'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand laptop pretty soon, and I wanted to buy an "adaptec usb2connect" device which will give me 2x USB2.0 ports through a CardBus slot. But I'm not sure what one of those is. Is it s typeII slot or something similar?

Because I'm gonna get a 2nd user laptop it may not be compatible, thats why I want to make sure before hand.

A CardBus is your ordinary PCMCIA slot, so you're very correct in your guess.
