KT4 read on-die temps?

The reason i ask is that my old A7V266-e never did, and with air cooling ran at 50 C most of the time.....with the same heatsink and the same chip, but on the MSI board its showing 40 C in the bios.I know Asus is famous for being off on the temps.....just not sure where the MSI board is reading the temps....from the socket or the die??

MSI mobo's after 266 read the xp diode by default when an xp proc is detected by the bios. If a T'bird or Duron is used the thermistor is used.
