Hi i got ABIT7Max-2 and P4b=2.4ghz
and i want to overclock it to 2.7ghz or higher....but i get blue screen of death. And i think i'm doing something wrong in bios settings=stuff i dont know/dont understand

so someone plz help me with setting right settings if i want to overclock @ 2.7ghz:
PC spec in the bottom:

-Softmenu III setup:

CPU Operating Speed
X - Ext. Clock(CPU/AGP/PCI)( i figured that one out: 150/xx/xxMHz :)
X - PCI Bus Freq. (here i'm not sure)=(ext. clock/3)(ext. clock/4)(fixed 44Mhz) and (fixed 33Mhz)
X - Multiplier Factor (i dont know here either, i have it set as 20x)=(lowest=8x)(highest=24x)
X - DRAM ratio H/W Strap (dont know here either)(I have it as "By CPU)=(also can run on High, didnt try low)
X - DRAM Ratio CPU:DRAM (not sure here also)(By SPD, 3:4, 1:1)
X - Speed Error Hold ( i have it disabled)

CPU Power Supply
-what voltage i need to overclock at 2.7?

-i dont want to overclock ram so i'm leaving it as 2.5v

-----------------------------------
Abit IT7-Max2 533bus
P4b 2.4Ghz 533bus
512 stick of ram @ 333bus
350w power supply

CPU Operating Speed
X - Ext. Clock(CPU/AGP/PCI)( i figured that one out: 150/xx/xxMHz
It's at 150 now or 133? (you say your at 533)

X - PCI Bus Freq. (here i'm not sure)=(ext. clock/3)(ext. clock/4)(fixed 44Mhz) and (fixed 33Mhz)
Fix it at 33Mhz

X - Multiplier Factor (i don't know here either, i have it set as 20x)=(lowest=8x)(highest=24x)
Doesn't matter the CPU is locked

X - DRAM ratio H/W Strap (don't know here either)(I have it as "By CPU)=(also can run on High, didn't try low)

X - DRAM Ratio CPURAM (not sure here also)(By SPD, 3:4, 1:1)

X - Speed Error Hold ( i have it disabled)

Leave it at stock till you get as high as you can on the front bus then move it up.

-i don't want to overclock ram so i'm leaving it as 2.5v
you are overclocking the ram as you move the front bus up.
Exactly what ram do you have?

And watch this video review on that board.

I would see what it does at default v core first, that means working your way up to 150 mhz in increments of 2 or three mhz.

I assume you have run it at 133 so start at 140 fsb, it should run there at default vlts. (work your way up)

Lock the pci in at (fixed 33mhz)

multiplier is locked at the factory. You can change it to 18 so it looks right.

Cpu strap (by cpu)

Dram Ratio try (1:1 ratio)

GGHOG, gave you sound advice.

Ext. Clock in the BIOS is what we call FSB.

PCI Bus Freq., I would use fixed 33 MHz.

Multiplier factor is locked on the CPU (18X on a 2.4B CPU).

DRAM Ratio CPU/RAM: I would use the 1:1 ratio since you only have DDR333. Using 3:4 ratio would be nice, but your RAM probably won't handle that speed.

Speed Error Hold: always leave this disabled when overclocking.

Now, if you're still having trouble going higher... one of three things are most likely... 1) you've reached the CPU limit, 2) you need better cooling, or 3) you need more voltage.

Check CPU load temps and see what they are. Whether you should raise the vcore voltage depends on your cooling.

thx guys
i reached 2.7 i booted windows and then couple things started to happen

software started to crash, and then i restarted my PC and windows ouldent start again. after i cut the power i can start windows again tho
i check the cpu temp stays at 46C highest it went up was 55-60

so it seems to be unstable
with cpu default valtage
right now i'm running at 145(2.61ghz) and it seems to be very stable

actually i just got a little luck
i set it as 155( 2.8ghz)
1:1 ram
and 1.6voltage

played doom3 alpha for few mins, seems stable
cpu temp dosent rise higher than 55C
