I know "B" Birds clock better than "A" Birds but which is the best stepping for each cpu.

I've looked everywhere for a 2100+ "AUIHB" Stepping but all to be found are "AGOIA" Stepping...

For These Cpus maybe i can get a good stepping with one of these and overclock them :)
Which are the best stepping for these cpus.

AMD Athlon XP 1700
AMD Athlon XP 1800
AMD Athlon XP 1900
AMD Athlon XP 2000+

By the way (If they have the cpu listed with out the + does it mean anything)

I'm not sure what about the 1800.1900,2000 but the 1700+ right now are amazing and getting awesome results, JIUHBs are best, second come the JIUGBs then last come the JIUCBs, they all OC very well and are Bs. On a side note they are not Birds, T-Birds were thunderbirds, Socket type Athlon, T-Breds, thoughrobreds are AthlonXPs with smaller core, at 0.13µm.

the plus doesnt mean anything. 1700/1800 for an a tbred you would want aiuga for a b tbred you would want jiuhb unless u can find aiuhb but while people have said they have gotten these i have yet to see one. 1900 i havent see in anything but palamino so just dont buy one, but if you did i guess agoia would be best. 2000 you can find in tbred a and aiuga would be best but rirga or rirda are much more common and not as good. newegg sells the 2100+ tbred b aiuhb for around 100 and i think it was excaliberpc that also had it for that price, those are the best if you have 100bux to spend. otherwise the 1700 jiuhb from newegg would be 50$ and prolly break 2ghz. but it is a small gamble as a few people have reported getting aiuga 1700 making them tbred a's that would only do1900 or so mhz most times.

I just wanted to also point out that you said you looked everywhere for a 2100 AIUHB but only found AIOGAs. these are 2 different cores. The AIUHB is a Thoroughbred and will overclock extremely well - mine is at 2450. AGOIA is a palamino core. You won't get anything too great from one of these.

I just don't think you're looking for Thoroughbreds if you say all you can find is AGOIA.

Here's what I understand.

Between palamino and Thoroughbred. Other than the Thoroughbred Overclocks really well and how would I be able to tell the difference which one it is.

OHHH ya I gota ask When I was looking at the AMD CPUs I found some GREEN and some Brown ones ?!?! What is the difference ?

Go for these
Acording to this order
1)AIUHB
2)JIUHB
3)JIUGB
4)JIUCB
5)AIUGA

Little backround info. I am planning on getting this board.
MSI KT4VL.
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=KT4VL
And I got DDR 400 Ram from samsung "K4H560838D-TCC4"

Supertrucker< I would order from newegg but I am in Canada and they won't ship to here :(

plague> I am an AMD Newbie sorry :( I am trying to learn as much as I can.

I place AIUGA in number 4 position base what i've test and search around. Of couse, JIUCB run with low temp then AIUGA. AIUDA can hit 2100mhz at 1.8vcore while JIUCB need 1.9 or more.

Nice thx Lithan !!

The JIUHB 1700+ from www.excaliberpc.com is my Number one choice now. Going to order it Tuesday.

Now which fan should I get because this cpu is going to be OEM.

1) Should i get V7+ OR V9 Or Get some cheap fan just to manage me till V11 comes out ?

The main thing I am looking for is it's gota be QUIET. 35Db is acceptable but preferably lower. So if i get V7+ i'd set it to Medium same goes with V9.

2) I am really curiouse what is the difference between the green and brown CPUs ?

3) Motherboard Complications

I was first 100% sure to go for the "MSI KT4V-L" But my friend who works at a computer store told me stay away from it 2 people came back with that board because it was unstable.
So I must look for anouther board. Here are the boards I found that look nice. (was thinking of leadtek but found out you can't change the multiplyer)

Can you please list the best 3-4 Mobos from the list below.

Kt400 Mothboards

MSI KT4V-L
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=KT4VL

GIGABYTE GA7VAX
http://tw.giga-byte.com/products/products.htm

DELUX APOGEE 7VJL, VIA KT400, 3DDR400, 6PCI, 1AGP8X, 6CH-A+L, 6USB2.0, ATX (Some review sites say it's KT333CE chipset)
http://www.chaintechusa.com/eng/products/SOCKA/7VJL-Deluxe.asp

ASUS A7V8X, VIA KT400, 3DDR400, 6PCI, 1AGP8X, A+L, U100, ATX
http://www.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7v8x/overview.htm

Nforce 2 Motherboards

APOGEE 7NJL1, NF2SPP CR18D, DUAL CHANNEL DDR400, 6PCI, 1AGP8X, W.6CH+L, 6USB2.0, 333FSB, ATX
http://www.chaintechusa.com/eng/products/SOCKA/7NJL1.asp

Unkown... I think this is Nforce 1 chipset.
ASUS A7N266VM, NF2 20D, 3DDR, 3PCI, U100, 1AGP4X, V+A+L, MATX

JIUHB:0302 . says that in the title on excaliber's site. what is the 0302? doesnt it mean 2nd week of 03. are these better than the one i have in my sig

goden, if you're still looking for that 1700+, you might wanna check out www.digiconcepts.com i ordered an aiuga from them last night along with the 7njl1 came to $270CDN incl shipping. of all the places outside Canada they ship here the cheapest that I've found so far, $20US as opposed to $60 or $70US that some places are tryin to pull off. some *** at a site i won't mention told me "yeah, we'll shipo that $50 1700 to you in canada, for an extra $60US. i couldn't even find words to flame that f**k.

Don't forget the Albatron, Shuttle, and Abit boards. I'm using an Abit KD7 motherboard, stable and flexible.

I'm sorry but I haven't seen much AIUGAs at 2100MHz at 1.8volts, but I have seen my chip at 1.92Ghz at 1.6v and 2.02GHz at 1.7v I haven't pushed it much further as my PSU is really limiting me, but the chip will both run much cooler and overclock the same/better than a Tbred A

I have some questions and some answers:D .

Q: is AUIHB on a XP2400+ t-bred good stepping?? What rank would you give it out of all the possible 2400+ steppings??

A: drewthomas14 said "what is the 0302? doesnt it mean 2nd week of 03" thats exactly right. I have 0251.......but i bought the chip in feb 2003 so im a bit ****ed at the guys i got it from:eek: .......if AIUHB is good stepping ill be less ****ed:D

A: goden99 asked "Now which fan should I get because this cpu is going to be OEM.

id say go with a thermaltake SLK-900 w/ a low speed 92mm fan.......this will give you max heat dissapation w/ not to much noise.

A: goden99 asked "Can you please list the best 3-4 Mobos from the list below."
I would go for the Asus A7V8X for a KT400 board and the Asus A7N8X for the NF2 board..........the NF2 is probably a better chipset for overclocking..........but i refuse to believe that cause i went and got a A7V8X (KT400 chipset) DOH:(
