What is the difference in Non Ecc and Ecc RAM?

Just wondering... is one better than the other? Is this Non Ecc or Ecc???

if you're building a pc for home use/gaming etc... then get NON ECC.
ECC (i think) stands for Error Code Correction and is used in server pc's. when you buy ram for a gaming rig get unbuffered-non ecc ram.

There will be a ninth memory chip per bank to support the ECC function.
