no you dont have too. it will work just fine with 1 512mb stick.

you dont have too but it would give you more band width.
put 1 256 meg stick in the black slot and one in the one of the blue slots

will putting one in dimm2 and one in dimm3 enable dual channeling?

I remember reading something about staying away from some slots, but i cannot remember which =/
