Software and Hardware Firewall Combo

I was wondering if anybody here uses both a Hardware firewall/router and a software firewall together. I recently reinstalled my os, and was thinking about not re-installing ZoneAlarm. I have a Netgear FM114P, it has a nice firewall in it. So is it necessary to have redundant systems?

I wouldn't say its necessary in most cases. If you tend to do a lot of downloading, and using files that you aren't sure are trojan-free, it may be worth it to run a software firewall in case. You can never be too safe, after all.

I personally just use my SMC barricade, and have never had a problem.
