But AGP4x can be run on an AGP8x mobo, is that what you meant to ask? An AGP3.0 mobo will support AGP2x, AGP4x, and AGP8x Video cards.

yes exactly. if the mobo can only support 4x agp, then the vid card will run at the highest possible rate, which would be 4x. But for example if the mobo is 8x, but the vid is 4 x, the vid card will only run at 4x because thats its maximum agp/
