just formatted...now I have to reset modem after restart??

Alright, I formatted my hard drive the other day, and now, everytime I restart the computer, I have to reset the cable modem, and renew my IP address. Any ideas why this would be happening? I have winxp pro corp. and this never happened before I formatted.

U didnt explain why u need to reset modem - no signal i gues.

Sounds like XP didn't fully install the network drivers...this would cause XP to lose the IP everytime you would reboot...but that wouldn't cause the modem to lose the IP addy...kind of sounds like the modem is going bad...have you called your ISP to do a line check?
