So I'm at Radio Shack, very excited about my new Athlon 1.0 AXIA purchase, ready to overclock, ready to do it right and not destroy another chip this time, and I ask the "salesperson" for a conductive pen.
He insists that I buy a Tandy before he tells me where the conductive pen is. I oblige and then he just shrugs and says he doesn't know what that is.

However he did say my new Tandy was "ideal" for overclocking so I can't wait to see how far I can *push* it.
Is it just the normal "glittery" pen from business depot/staples that I need or something actual electricians use. Please help me out... i really don't wanna fry another CPU. thANkS.///////

btw. Big shout out going to the guy that advised me to solder my previous CPU......... thanks mang!

SHOFIXTI!!! OH YEAH!

Sorry, bit of nostalgia there.

As for the conductive pen, I've never seen them at Radio Shack, and I've asked at three different Shacks, and none of them know what they are. Radio Shack is getting as bad as CompUSA. As for where to find one...

Hardware store. Pick up some parts to mod your case, too. Also check autoparts stores. They're commonly used to repair rear-windshield defrosters. I've used one on my parents car, and it actually does work for that. Basically, it's a gel with conductive properties. And yes, it does dry.

Don't bother with a conductive pen. I unlocked the multiplier on my Axia using a 2B pencil.

I think crazypc.com has a kit.
Mine came from Circuit Specialists..don't remember the website but a search at dogpile.com should find it.
You will also need a very strong magnifying glass, best are the ones with a built in light.
Those L1 are SOOOOOOO...SMALLLLLLL !

Didn't the fourm have a community pen at one time, or is that long gone.
Last I knew Openfriday had it

I found mine at good quallity Electronics store. Not Radio Shack, this place carries fans industrial stuff connectors etc. It was $13.00 and well worth it if you are good with a knife (x-acto) then use clear tape and cut out the bridges then you can get a nice clean job with the Pen.
