okay, what's the problem with making a exact copy of your HDD to another HDD then using that on another computer?

anyways, i'm using xp home right now and i'm gonna have a new computer up. i was wondering if i can upgrade to pro on this one than use the old xp home for the new rig. is that possible?

I see no problem with this part aslong as you have 2 CD keys

i think if you dont have the exact same system configuration copying it from 1 hdd to another wont work you would need to do a fresh install from the disk as xp doesnt like drastic system changes( ie. different motherboard ) can correct me if im wrong but heres a link on it

If you have a legal copy of XP Home and XP Pro, then microsoft will let you transfer Home to another computer. You may have to call them after you Register during install but it won't cost you anything.
