futureproof card possible?

Hi guys. I was just wondering if this card would be futureproof for future games like HL2 or even doom 3 or something. MY friend is trying to selling it to me for $100 and i was just wondering if that's a good price. He's only used it about a month with slight gaming and no overclocking at all. Good deal or not? It will play both of those games, probably at 60FPS max. For $100 and considering it's used, it's not that great of a deal since you could buy a new FX 5600 on newegg for $97 (no VIVO though).

If your intent is to play future games. I can't recommend any Nvidia card other than the 5900. It's a lot stronger than any other Nvidia product and the only Nvidia card even remotely comparable to the 9800 ATI.

Ok thanks guys. You saved me from giving my friend $100 for a weak card lol. Maybe i'll invest in a 9800xt when i have the dough someday.
