after seeing an average overclock for a 2.4 gig 533 fsb p4 of over 3 gigs, iv been having a little play with mine. so far got to 149 fsb ~2.7 gig with no problems at all, stock cooler, standard voltages and idling at 34 deg C. the gigabyte mobo allows locking of agp and pci at 66 and 33, and the ram separately changeable - so far so good.

but as soon as i go from 149 to 150 fsb the system wont boot. it completely locks at the win2k bootscreen, after loading the bootloader. after messing around with the vcore, and even underclocking the ram to no effect, i thought about the psu.

doing a bit of testing with speedfan, at the standard 133 fsb the +12v rail is at 11.71 (seems a bit low), but drops to 11.65 under load. but when o/ced to 149 fsb, the voltage drops to 11.58 under load.

considering everything else seems happy, im guessing the 300w aopen psu is the problem?

cheers.

got some more stats...

at 133 fsb (standard):

NO LOAD
+3.3V 3.31V
+5V 4.97V
+12V 11.71V

100% CPU
+3.3V 3.31V
+5V 5.00V
+12V 11.65 / 11.58V <-- seems to fluctuate a bit

at 148 fsb

NO LOAD
+3.3V 3.31V
+5V 4.95V
+12V 11.71V

100% CPU
+3.3V 3.31V
+5V 5.00V
+12V 11.58V

any ideas?

thanks.
