DSL seems slow

We are paying $50 a month for DSL that takes 38 seconds to download a 1mb file. My grandmother was commenting on how slow it was, and she has dial up! My uncle pays the same amount that we do and his cable connection is easily 16x faster. (he is right next to a T3 node though) Am I getting a bad deal on my connection? Or do you need to pay more to get more speed?

What is the rated speed of your DSL? Also, have you tried downloading from different sites?

Base cable packages are usually faster than DSL. I agree with Smokeys, check the speed of the package you signed up for.
