hi, i'm trying to get most of a barton +2500(unlocked), here are the facts:

*I could get to 2200 Mhz (11x200) stable at 1.65 Vcore
*I could get to 2300 Mhz (11x210) stable at 1.75 Vcore
*i couldn't get 2400Mhz stable at 1.8V core, it post but crash on windows.
*Memtest shows no errors when i test my memory up to 220 Mhz fsb
*Prime is not stable above 210 Mhz fsb , even 215x9.5 shows hardware error

Here are the questions:

1-. Why prime is not stable, when memtest shows no memory errors at same speeds?
2-. I really like to get 2400Mhz , but 1.8 vcore was my limit, is 1.85 safe?, what about 1.875?, my temps are close to 56º (socket) when priming
3-. What is the average overclock limit to these cpus on air?

Any advice would be appreciated

1. Because memtest tests the memory only.
2. Yes, it's the temps, not the voltage. Can't go over 65 C on die temperature.
3. Depends on heatsink brand and power supply brand, your results are typical of an average old desktop Barton.

have you tryed a 11.5 to get to 2400Mhz , but i watch your temps they are getting lil on the hot side

i can hit 2400 at 12.5x192 with mine

I tried but it isn't stable at 1.8 Vcore, maybe later i 'll try with 1.85vcore, but i think 1.85 is too much for daily use.

just woundering but you say you got 2200(11x200) with 1.65vcore????
with a barton 2500+ destop cpu?

i must be doing something wrong, can you guys give me some suggestons

i have a barton 2500+ and i cant get to 11x200 unless cvolt it 1.9 or 1.925 to be totally stable.

i have a KV7 mobo and have crultal 3200 mem

thanks

(btw) i have a tbred 2400+ clocked at 2460(15x164) on my other kv7 so atlest im not a total noob i havent had that many probs out of it exept my boot scetor virus

thanks

I know right, hehe Im stable at 1.7v@ (200x11). 1.65v is lucky but ive heard of people getting that before.

More than that, if i choose 1.65 vcore at bios MBM shows that vcore is always at 1.63 or 1.62 , and it is totally stable at 2200 (200x11) :D .

Well, yesterday i tried again and i could boot on windows at 2400 (192x12.5) at 1.8 vcore, but prime shows hardware error in a couple of mins. (doesn't work at 1.825Vcore either).

I'm wondering what means that i could do 192x12.5 but can't even boot at 200x12, could it be my motherboard ? remeber my memory shows no errors on memtest until 220Mhz

well i would be happy if all i needed was 1.7 or 1.75 or so but 1.9 or 1.925 that to much, it to hard to cool.

is it possible that it could be my psu? i have an allied 350w?

Well, that could always be but maybe not.
I would upgrade that psu 1rst thing when i had the money though.its worth it to have a quality Psu even if thats not ur problem here.

How do i know if my PSU is ok?

What kind of difference is normal betwen idle vcore and load vcore (like when priming?)

I think 5% of where the rails are supposed to be is fine.
Idle or under load.

yeah my new week9 04 did 11x200 at 1.675 vcore.
prime totured for 5x24hr :)
lucky me...yes luck is all we can say.
IMHO above 200FSB requires better cooling for your NB, try cooling your SB as well..might help.

I've had similar results, though my temps were a tad lower... My highest Prime stable was 220 at 1.85 volts... but for everyday usage (and moderate sound levels), i keep it at 200x11 at stock 1.65 voltage. At 200x11, i can run my 92 SF2 at 3000 rpms and still be below 48 on load.

ok i just bough a antec 430w true power and it helped NONE. i upgraded my NB HSF and use AS 5. I saw absolutly NO change...........:-(. i have a KV7 with bios 12. i wounder if bios 13 or 14 would do anybetter?

thanks
