what are the main chip manufacturers that companies like OCZ and Corsair buy from and then attach their memory modules to. do these companies also make the wafers themselves?

Used to be winbond with the BH-5, CH-5 modules now it's going over to Hynix with the BT-D43 and D50.

Suma.

are these the ONLY two manufacturers or just the "best" ones? i mean, there must be more for the lower priced memory.

OCZ and Mushkin and such arent merely distrubutors of Hynix's RAM as Saphire and PowerColor are to ATI's vid cards?

and apparently winbond has just dropped out of that group? i do notice that samsung is a staple ram on just about every vid card i;ve seen. was my earlier postulation about distrubutors correct?
