This is the issue, it has come a deal for me to offer my Abit NF7-S rev 2.0 + Barton Mobile 2600+ (AQYHA, reaches 2500mhz with 1.75vcore) + Thermalright SLK800(A) with Tornado.

PLUS a amount of U$ 200,00

for a Athlon 64 3200+ BOX and a Abit KV8 Max 3.

is it a good deal? any information i should know before doing it?

thanks, later

Even this Abit, i havent heard good things about her.

Does anyone have this Abit motherboard and could tell me if it can only Overclock to 3400+ (2200mhz) with more than 200fsb, or it can reach 2200mhz (3400+) with 200fsb (meaning for that is to have PCI/AGP at default).

ThankYou

if you already have the mobile barotn, it isnt worth it to get the A64. I upgraded from a 2400 and wasnt happy with the performance difference. A mobile 2600 will do fine for now, at least untill thte begining of next year when much better technologies come out.

Personally, I'd stick with what you have. The KV8 is not that good of an overclocker from what I hear and even if you got 2.2ghz out of the A64 with it, it would only be a marginally faster than your setup.

Besides for about only $300 ($100 more than you'd be shelling over) you could can get a new A64 3000+ and Chaintech VNF3-250 that should be good for 2400mhz pretty easy, maybe more and you get to keep your Barton setup.

I'll say this though, my A64 3000+ puts the hurt on my old XP setup, which has been regulated to a backup machine. Granted my A64 runs at 2500mhz and the fastest I've run my XP 2100+ was 2415mhz.

mna dont buy A64s for about another 30 days... the 939 socket should be comin out soon... and that should open up for new/b4tter overclocking as its been rated to do so
