just a quick question. i wanted 2 know if many people play games at a higher res than 1280 x 1024? my monitor is a dell 1800fp and i think its max is 1280 x 1024. does this mean i cant play doom3 with 1600 x 1200? if most people play games at 1280 x 1024 then y bother doing tests for higher res?

do games look a lot better at 1600x1200.im thinkin of changing my monitor for one with a higher resolution.do u think i should? i wont b able to afford an lcd one so im gona hav 2 get a crt.ill probly get a 20 or 21incher.

if your monitor wont support 1600x1200 i dont think youll be able to play doom3 on that setting since the physical limits of the monitor wont change because doom3 wants it too.

if you get a 20 or 21 inch monitor youll undoubtedly be able to use resoloutions up to and beyond 1600x1200 the thing you need to look for in a crt that size is its refresh rates available at higher resolutions.

it's not worth it all the time, because i know with me it's not. I have a nice sammy monitor, but at 1600x1200, my refresh rate is onlyl ike 60-something. Anything lower than the 70's gives me a headache... so i run at 1280x1024 / 960.

u run 1024 x 768 at 75 hertz, i like it i havnt really bothered try 1600 x 1200 but i might once i get some better cooling, i dont if my crt will have a good enough refressh rate though

1280*960 here. i dont think a new monitor would be worth it. 1280*1024 and 4AA looks VERY good.

hell 1024x768 with fsaa and af looks fantastic enough, i dont see the point in dropping below 85hz. then again. i have a cheapy sammy that cant do the higher re****ions at a respectable rate. 1280x960 would be at 60 hz which is just unacceptable. even 75 hz will kill my eyes.

If i had a 19 or 20" tough. i might consider running higher res, but i would rather run a little lower and have everything turned on than just a higher res. i would much rather have 2x1024 than 1x 1600 though.
