I have 3 IBM Travelstar 12gig hard drives that pass both the quick and full test with the Hitachi Disk Tool.

My question is, if you shake them they have something rattling around in them like something is loose inside the drives...Is this normal ???

It's pretty normal for the older drives. These should be DJSA or older drives, if I remember correctly.

If I recall it's just a latching mechinism or the arm relay that hangs loosly. I wouldn't worry about it. all four or five of mine do it to.

They are Model : DARA-212000 12.07GB P/N 31L9874's.

Man I was tripping...Thinking what the odd's were of having 3 of these drives with what I thought was the same problem.

Thanks for the reply's...LOL...Still makes me cringe when I shake them.
