how much does the xp-120 hang out off the top of the motherboard and if i do get one what would be the best fan for it noise is no issue but i do like a fairly quiet fan as right now i have a 80mm tornado at 7v and it is at a nice noise level.

xp-120 fit?

Well, I can only speak for my setup, but I have the XP120 on a Soltek SL-865Pro-775 MoBo, and it sticks above the MoBo approximately 1/4". In my Lian Li PC65B case, there is plenty of room above that for the PS.
As far as fans go, I'm using a (basically) generic UV green 120mm fan which didn't raise the db level significantly enough to notice. I am, however, ordering another Panaflo 85CFM fan to replace it, no matter what the db level...cooling is my main concern.
