does anyone have them?

i like the usb interface but does it work well?

the 5.1 with the seperate drivers looks good

but does it sound good?

I've got the Zalman 5.1 headphones and I love em, great for late night gaming and still getting the surround sound.
No USB though....
The one with USB are "Hear To Belive" Mentor, I couldn't find them in Israel so I got the Zalmans.

Regardless, the idea of 5.1 headphones is dumb. You have no true center front or rear sound. Headphones are, and always will be, a stereo sound........

Unless you grow 3 extra ears.

Actually Binaural sound on headphones is far from stereo, well i guess its stereo with really good imaging. But I agree that 5.1 headphones are stupid. Just get a decent pair of headphones with a good soundstage and they will be better for music and gaming than the cheasy 5.1s that use $.05 radio shack drivers

we it isnt actually 5.1 like we know it

but the image it give is very nice from what i have heard

Seriously just invest the money into a good pair of headphones. The sound will no doubt be better from the normal "stereo" headphones than those 5.1 peices of junk. You want quality speakers not quantity :D.

If you dont want to listen to Ad Rock and are insistant on 5.1 Headphones I recommend the Medusa 5.1 Surround Headset. They sound great and are very comfortable.

I've had my Zalman 5.1 headphones for about a year now and just noticed that through multiple abuses, one of the wires has been damaged causing the front right channel to be cut off. I'm now looking to either have these repaired or just buy some new ones if the repair is to expensive. So far I have found 2 viable options. I'm wondering if anyone has tried these yet or if you've seen any useful reviews.

The Medusa headset that someone mentioned above is way to expensive. Can't wait to hear what y'all have to say...

I say that you should listen to Ad Rock, the soundstage you get off good stereo headphones is quite good, and they sound amazing.

Gaming 5.1 headsets are like, the epitome of poor sound quality. I tried the Zalmans last year, they sounded worse than my 30 year old Sennheiser HD414. A LOT worse. It was like listening to music through one of those little key chain trinkets that makes laser noises and explosion sounds. They did have a good 5.1 effect, but the quality was so awful it totally negated any upsides of the surround for gaming.

It comes down to a matter of convienience either way I go. The thing is, I already have the Logitech Z-2200 set, so if I go with a set of Sennheisers, all I have to do is plug them into the volume remote for the speakers. If I go wiht the Kinyo 5.1 headphones, I can plub my speakers into the little box it comes with. I listened to a friends Sennheisers the other day and they sounded really nice. I found some good prices on refurbished Sennheisers but wasn't sure if it would be worth it to get those or new ones for a little less at a lower quality.

The cheaper first 515's claim to come with a waranty, the others don't however. The 212's were the ones I tried, and they kind of hurt my hears from the pressure after a while, so i would preffer teh 280s or 515 because they completely cover the ears instead of just sitting on them.

Let me know what y'all think.

Thanks.

If it is all possible for you to go up to the $100-$125 range, I cant say enough about the Sennheiser HD 555s. They are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn; they are circumnuaral (sp) and have velour rather than cheap/hot/uncomfortable foam stuff.

The sound is beautiful even un-amped from my chaintech AV-710. It is so detailed that I re-encoded my entire music collection into a lossless format because you really can hear the difference with these 'phones.

5.1 phones are gimmicky and for the most part use cheap parts. If you think they sound good, put on a pair of burnt-in Sennheiser 555/580/590/595/600/650 and you'll never look back
