Interesting thing. I just received my SI-97A from Sidewinder. When I bought it, I thought it was a normal SI-97. I went to their website and checked out what the "A" was for. It turns out, they now make a bracket to work with the S754/S939/S940.
Installation link:

From their website:
AMD: Socket A Sempron and Athlon XP Palamino, Thoroughbred, and Barton 2800+ and up
Athlon64 FX 3200+ (socket 939/940) /Athlon64 3200+ (socket 754) and above.
Mine came with the new base, with the extra circle cut out, but not the bracket.
I think this does not bode well for the XP-90 to Socket A conversion.
