How to Get and Get Rid of Your Gmail Invites

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This topic has been brought up quite a bit on the forum recently, but never adequately examined. The purpose of this thread is to fully examine the methods, options, and consequences of each method and to list the pros and cons.

If you have a Gmail account with any invites you have one of a few options:

Invite Spooler:

The easiest way is to send it to a gmail invite spooler.

Once you visit one of these sites:

http://gmail.afraid.org/
http://www.highwayman.org/gmail/
http://www.bytetest.com/

The instructions are more or less self-explanatory. Basically you email all your invites to one email address, who then delivers them to people queued up on the site to receive them. It’s that simple; much easier and less time consuming and stressful then trying to find 50 friends that need and/ or want a Gmail account.

If you want a Gmail account you can go to these same sites and enter your email along with an alphanumeric code into their spooler, which makes you queued up for the next available invite donated.

Some obvious problems with this system include the fact that one person has power over perhaps a million or more email addresses . The people who recieve those invites may come to find their original email addresses have been sold to various advertisers and thus become a spam accounts. which is annoying enough to just scrap the Gmail account altogether. That or the person giving the invites may have his accounts spammed if he gives his email to it. When using this option you should try to find the most reputable spooler you can find and carefully read the security agreements before participating one, although there are no promises, as far as security regarding this.

Invite Thread/Post/Webpage:

If you don’t like that option one of the easiest and most secure ways to get rid of a Gmail account is to request one via a forum, or a friend. Something more personal and likely more genuine, such as our very own Gmail Invites Thread:

Something more personal, such as a Gmail Invites thread, or one from a small website tend to be more secure, since any problems with an account as far as spam will quickly be brought to the attention of the community. That’s not to say individuals obtaining Gmail accounts via this method can’t receive a spam account along with the inviter having there account spammed, but there does appear to be less instance of it. You have to be careful not to give out your email address to anyone but the invited and not to post it anywhere on the forum, since it can be picked up by a worm, resulting in the spamming of your account-Gmail or not. This method is siginificantly more time-consuming then a spooler.

Invite a Friend(s):

Of course there’s the last option, which is just hand then out to all your friends. Likely the most secure, but also the most time consuming, but if you’re not in a hurry its likely your best option. Instances of spamming are virtually nonexistent if your careful for both the inviter and invited.

Other?

If you have any information concerning methods or otherwise please feel free and it will be added into the thread.
