what is the max temp in centegrade for the amd tbird 1.4ghz before it burns out?

tnx

before it goes critical is 90c. But it'll crash and bluescreen and every other thing under the sun before it gets there. Keep it under 50c at load and you'll be fine.

well i didn't have a cooler for it so i stuck my socket 370 heatsink and fan on it and then a huge fan that i got from an old scuzzy 386 in the box, but it ran up to 60C just in the bios, so i'll wait for the proper cooler i guess
what would be a good mobo to overclock this chip with?

Any of the Epox newer boards, will rock , 8kha, 8kha+, 8k7a, 8k7a+.

Abit kg7. kg-7r,

Shuttle Ak31, A31 rev 3

either get a board with the AMD 760 chipset, or a board with kt266 or kt266a and youll be in OC heaven

I'll second OC Jason's mobo recommendations.

You definitely want to keep the chip below 50 C load temp. Letting it go hotter makes no sense, you'll start seeing major instability problems.
