6600 pci express vrs. 6600gt AGP ?

Greetings, i was curious if anyone knew the performance diference between a couple video card line ups like...

6600 pci express and 6600 GT
x800 pci express and 9800pro

I have been ATI only for the last few years and kinda want to try out a Nvidia again if the price/performance is worthwhile vrs my 9700pro.

Just bought 2 6800le's for my sons to use but i am thinking of getting a pci express card for myself.
Finding the prices on the pci express to be a little high for my buddget so far, i currently have a 9700pro.

Trying to get a feel for which card would be a decent enough upgrade from my 9700pro without sending the wife into a frenzy lol

Thanks

The 6600 vanilla will be on par with or slightly better than a 9800pro, the 6600GT will blow them all away. The x800 is ok, a bit better than 6600 vanilla but you have to get into the XLs or PEs before the x800 is a realy good card.

Looks like i better just stay with AGP for now, the pci express versions of the cards are just too darn expensive still.

The thing is im going to be buying a socket 939 MB this week so wanted to get a pci express version so later on i could get a nicer video card, with my current cash restraints i will have to get a socket 939 that has a AGP slot :(

Wish just waiting a lil bit and saving up was an option but with my being on disability i only get the extra cash for upgrades a once a year or so.

No... without overclocking 9800Pro more powerful than 6600 (NON GT) - there are many tests which show this fact...
Calidan, if u decided to stay with AGP - your best choise is 6600GT, but if your computer is not very old (i mean unpowerful or.... how it will be in English?) :)
Please tell configuration of your computer...

my current system is...

2600 barton mobile
a7n8x deluxe
1 gig OCZ pc 3200 DDR
1 gig crucial pc 3200 DDR
9700 pro

But i am going to be buying a athlon 64 3000+ venice and asus motherboard (forget name..like a8v or some such thing )
Doesnt leave a huge budget for a video card, hate to stick with AGP and not be able to pickup a pci express card later this year or next.

you can get a vanilla 6600 for <$100 or a 6600GT for <$150. That's pretty cheap in video card standards. For some reason PCI cards are cheaper than AGP, like DDR2 is cheaper than DDR1.

no way. 9800pro(6000 03marks) ownes 6600 (5000 03marks) ,but the 6600GT ownes the 9800pro (7800 03marks)

x800 is way faster then any 9800 pro :)
