I just got a Leadtek Winfast PX6600-LE and just poking around I read about opening up the pipeline from 4 to 8. This card does have the 128 Bit memory interface and the NV43V GPU. From what I read that is a good sign as far as what I can possibly do with it. The issue here I that I hate reliying on startup items and software to control my hardware. If I test the 8 pipe and a slight overclock and know it’s stable, can anyone point me in the right direction on where I might be able to find a BIOS flash for this card to make it a GT, or whatever model that is close but with the pipe at 8 and the clock/mem speeds in the ballpark?

I assume I am shooting for making it a 6600GT no? or are they16 pipe? Can I use the current Rivatuner to test the 8 pipe setting?

I appreciate the help, as this is not my field of expertise.

Card spec’s here; http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_px6600_le_2.html

The highest you should shoot for is a 6600 NON-GT. The memory on a GT is simply not the same as your LE version, which is very similar to most NON-GT's. If you are running without artifacts you whould go to the http://guru3d.com/ website and fluff their forum pillows for a bios. However, should you probably just stick with riva tuner unless you want to run linux.

The 6600GT is not capable of 12 or 16 pipes, fyi and I don't believe the 6200 is capable of 8. Yet, all the hardware can scale down, ie a 7800 can go from 24 - 20 - 16 - 12 and the 6800 can go from 16 - 12 - 8 and the 6600 can go from 8 - 4 and the 6200 can go from 4 - 2.

Thanks for the reply.

here is what I found;
I found this BIOS file.
Leadtek 6600 PCIe 256MB - Rev 01

Description: Leadtek GeForce 6600 PCIe BIOS
Card : Leadtek WinFast PX6600 TD
Chipset : NVIDIA GeForce 6600
Version : 5.43.02.27.00
Memory : 256MB

And from what I can tell this is the standard 6600 Bios for the 6600 TD leadtek card. The memory appears to be the same, and the clock speeds and GPU are the same. The only thing I can see that is diferent si the pipe goes to 8 and the pixels per clock go to 8.

Does it seem logical that if I can use riva tuner to open those 2 settings to 8 on my card and It's stable that I should be able to flash the card with that bios>?

thanks again.
