help!! friend computer wont work!

i was wondering how to fix my friends computer, if you turn it on it just gets to a certain point on the startup then just restarts over and over again. so i cant log on normal or safe mode. what should i do?

You should probably be more specific...

When exactly does it restart? Just before the XP Logo shows up to start loading? Sooner? Later?

i am able to acces the bios, and it restarts after the xp logo.

Everything at stock? Try knoppix or some other CD based distro of linux if you can.

Hit F5 just as the logo screen comes on and see if you can get a safe mode boot. Probably a driver issue if it gets that far. If you can safe boot, disconnect all peripherals and try booting, adding one at a time until it locks up, there's your culprit.

well im not sure about normal safew mode but safe mode in command prompt would not work, so i highly doubt normal sfe mode would work.

and yes no ocing on this system all at stock.
