I've had at least 5 remote borgs that have been stuck trying to download this core. Some look like they have been trying to download this for weeks. This happening to anyone else?

On the folding forums I found a thread that related this core with linux. These are all windows machines.

Core_7a is 2.28Mb in size unzipped.

Can you DL it manually & install it?

I don't know how many Borq`s you have tho.

Its not a firewall issue. If i delete the workunit and it gets another one then its fine. Gonna try to get ot downloaded and load it to my jumpdrive. I'll post the errors here when i go back.

That is quite strange. You should be able to place the folding core executable in the main F@H directory and, assuming the core isn't outdated and prompts F@H to attempt to d/l a "newer" core, should work with no problems. Let us know what you find out.

There have been some reports of problems downloading 7a on windows machines. The two prevalent theories are web caching as some accelerators use and transfering WUs using a beta core to a machine not set to fold beta WUs. I'm pretty certain the second theory doesn't apply as the core was released publicly already, leaving the first as the discussed possibility.

This is the error that I am seeing over and over on alot of my borgs

I'm not sure what the problem is. These are regular windows machines on a DSL connection.

I'm going to try and download it manually but the last time i tried It still tried to download it.

any ideas?

I just updated the client from 4.0 to 5.02 and this is the error now

[21:09:22] + Error: Could not download core
[21:09:22] + Core download error (#2), waiting before retry...

**EDIT**

I went to http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Win32/x86/ and downloaded the client manually. I stop the service, download the core (820k) in to the FAH directory. Once i start the service the file size for Core_7a goes to 0 and i'm back into the download loop.

are there any additional steps that need to be taken after downloading a core manually?

could the core be corrupt?

I have 2 of these cores, running off of 5.04 console, with no problems (also on DSL). There is no problem with the core, but there apparently is a problem with the older console d/l'ing the core.

I recommend upgrading from the 5.02 to the 5.04 client. It d/l'ed my 7a cores automatically.

I've got two machines running GBGromacs core v 1.90, a p3 600 running XP and FAH v 5.04 beta, and a 933 MHz Celeron running Win Me and FAH 4.0. Both downloaded without problems.

Hope fully your post on the FAH Forum will get answered by someone with a clue shortly.

I was using wedo's one click. Its still on 5.0.2 I'll try 5.0.4

Same problem

I wiped it out first before I started troubleshooting. Are you running a client that runs 7a Oric? Whats the 7a file size in your fah directory.

**EDIT**
I just wiped the directory and did the wedo service install again. same errors. I even made sure that FAH5.0.2 console was on the exceptions list in Windows firewall

After a little googling, my WAG is that it's caused by either a system error on the box, or a server set-up.

For system errors, they mentioned:

* memory fragmentation, and / or lack of ability to allocate the blocks of memory it needs (I assume to decompress/initiate the 7a core).

* lack of sufficient drive space

Server set-up:

The GET command has an option to tell the server NOT to d/l again to the same machine, in order to keep bandwidth down.

Is it possible that your machines are using the same machine ID, so the server would see them as machines not to be d/l'ed to again?

No HTML expert here, this is just from reading a few web pages on HTML errors.

Good luck, Nahmus

Delete all FAH folders, and wipe any trace of FAH from the registry. download the 5.04 client and install manually into the FAH directory of your choice. I had exactly the same problem and doing this solved it completely.

Good idea. He deleted A FAH folder, and reloaded, but he didn't say he'd deleted ALL the FAH folders, AND also cleaned out any bit of FAH from the registry.

I hope and trust he's done a fresh boot as well.

Something else for you to try, Nahmus, in your swashbuckling free time. :p

This happened on 2 of my rigs as well a couple of days ago. It just stopped working. So i did what everyone is doing, deleting and reinstalling.
I'm using the 5.04 console on all my machines.
